In April 2011, the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) issued a report, Broken Records: How Errors by Criminal Background Checking Companies Harm Workers and Businesses. NCLC published the full report, an executive summary, a chart with problems, solutions, and the decision makers who can improve accountability and accuracy of reports, case studies of real people harmed by poor practices and errors, and a press release.
The NCLC issued a follow-up report in Dec. 2019, Broken Records Redux: How Errors by Criminal Background Check Companies Continue to Harm Consumers Seeking Jobs and Housing.
