Consumer reporting agencies are mindful of a possible federal government shutdown and that some government employees may not be paid during that period. CDIA is issuing guidance to data furnishers on reporting situations where consumers temporarily postpone payments due to a shutdown.
The Credit Reporting Resource Guide® (CRRG®) provides Temporary Payment Postponement guidance in FAQ 43 (including Payment Holiday/Skip-a-Pay scenarios). Additional guidance for reporting deferment and forbearance appears in FAQ 44 and FAQ 45, respectively.
Please note: It is the furnisher’s business decision—based on internal policies and procedures—which reporting option applies and how long an account should be reported as deferred or in forbearance.
For FAQ 43, FAQ 44, and FAQ 45 and other relevant furnisher information please visit the Metro 2® section of the CDIA website.
