On April 7, 2024, a discussion draft of the American Privacy Rights Act of 2024 was released. This draft represents an agreement between U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell (R-WA). Rep. Rodgers is the chair of House Energy & Commerce, and Sen. Cantwell is the chair of Senate Commerce. The draft was released along with a press release and section-by-section analysis. The draft has over 50 pages and 24 sections.
On April 8, 2024, an updated version of the discussion draft was circulated, with some changes between what was released on the 7th and the 8th.
