On April 9, 2021, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), the chair of the Senate Banking Committee, issued a press release and letter to ten tenant screening companies asking them for substantial input on their business operations. The companies that received letters were AppFolio, Inc., Move, Inc., CoreLogic Inc., Equifax, Experian, RealPage, RentPrep, TransUnion, TurboTenant, and VeriFirst. CDIA sent a letter to the committee in response to the committee’s request of a number of CDIA members. This committee letter follows a March 2, 2021, press release and letter from Sen. Warren to the CFPB asking for the legal oversight of the Bureau over tenant screening companies.
