CDIA filed a comment in May 2021 in response to an ANPR from the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (“FinCEN”). In this process, FinCEN is seeking public comment on questions pertinent to the implementation of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), enacted into law as part of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (NDAA).
Under the 2020 Corporate Transparency Act (“CTA”), FinCEN is required to stand up and maintain a non-public database of beneficial ownership information reported to FinCEN by business entities under the Bank Secrecy Act.
