In April 2023, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce held a hearing, Who is Selling Your Data: A Critical Examination of the Role of Data Brokers in the Digital Economy. A press release was issued by House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chair Morgan Griffith (R-VA) announcing the hearing.

In advance of the hearing, committee staff issued a Hearing Memo.

At the hearing, there was an opening statement from Chair Rodgers and an opening statement from Chair Griffith.

There were three witnesses:
