In August 2023, the White House convened a Roundtable on Protecting Americans from Harmful Data Broker Practices. Leading the program were White House National Economic Council Director Lael Brainard and White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Arati Prabhakar. CFPB Director Chopra delivered remarks, as did Brainard and Prabhakar. The CFPB also issued FAQs.

The White House issued a readout of that roundtable.

Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian Boynton delivered published remarks.

Following this program, the Consumer Bankers of America (CBA) wrote to the CFPB reminding the Bureau of the need for the commercial use of data for, among other things, identity verification and fraud prevention.
